What is the different between Softball and Baseball?

I want to try a new sport, Baseball is the one I want to try most, but my friends often say softball instead, not baseball, So, Is there any difference? the rule, or maybe the equipment, maybe?|||Well Baseball and Softball are two different sports. Baseball is a more relaxed game with a slower tempo, while Softball is at a really fast tempo.

Baseball has longer fences, longer base paths, smaller ball, pitched overhand, has 9 innings(Depending on what kind of league you're in), and is, in my mind, a whole lot harder than softball.|||BASEBALL:

the bases are 90 ft. apart

the ball is smaller %26amp; harder.

the basll is also 9 inches (229 mm) in circumference.

the bat is No longer than 42 inches.

allowed to steal base any time the ball is "live"

ball is pitched overhand

SOFTBALL:

the bases are 60 ft apart.

the ball is bigger but hard as well

12 or 11 inches (305 or 279 mm) in circumference, less dense than a baseball.

the bat is No longer than 34 inches

only allowed to steal once ball is out of pitchers hand

pitching is underhand.|||softball = under hand pitching

baseball =overhand (or sidearm) pitching

The fields are different sizes, the balls are different sizes.... softball is primarily a metal bat sport where as baseball has many wood bat leagues,,,, baseball has many more collisions and softball not so much.

baseballs travel faster|||If you never played baseball or softball before, start with softball. It's less dangerous.

The ball is larger obviously and thrown underhand, easier to wack at the ball.

The rules are generally the same, for the most part.|||Diamond is smaller. Bases are 60ft apart, not 90.

The ball is larger. Typically pitched underhand, not always.

That's basically it. Everything else I can think of is the same.|||chicks call it softball when they play it because they just do. Don't know why but they do

Fellas call it baseball because thats the proper term %26amp; there's more of sliding into bases in that game|||the difference is that softball sucks
