How fast should a varsity senior pitch a softball?

I was just wondering if I am good or just better than the other pitchers on the team. I pitch around 64, and they all average about 57 or so. I'm 17, most of them are between 16 and 18. How fast do you or did you pitch a softball?|||I think I remember seeing on This Week in Baseball that between 60-70 is a good hard pitch. I've never pitched that hard, but based on what I know you're at a very good speed.|||see thats a real baseball/softball player. "forgett about the radar gun just get the people out"

yeah dont get caught up in the speed there are many people who are good players and arent overpowering fast|||Most seniors I have encountered vary from 55-65. Throwing around 64 is throwing pretty hard. You have to remember, though, that many pitchers vary in their style of pitching. The junk pitchers won't throw as hard, but can be just as effective.|||I would worry about the movement of your pitches as well, as opposed to the speed. Speed is good, but after the first time through a batting order, the opposition will have the timing down.|||Forget the radar gun and just concentrate on getting people out.

What are some tips on breaking in a softball glove?

I recently started playing slow pitch mens softball and I wanted all you guys tips on the best way to break in a sftball glove, not just using the leather treatment, or tieing rubber bands around it with a ball in it but more creative ways.|||After you've done the leather treatment, wear the glove around the house and just throw a softball into it. Watch a TV show or something while you sit there and just throw the ball into the pocket. The best way to break in a glove is to give it constant use, and by throwing it into the pocket without playing anything, you'll break it in faster. After you've done this for a while, wrap a ball in it and let it sit for a couple hours and repeat the process later. I've done this numerous times with my baseball gloves, and I can usually have a brand-new glove perfectly broken in in about 5 days.|||Play catch with a waterlogged ball because of its weight will help wear in the glove. Also What I did was use glove oil and put a ball in it and wrap it up overnight and that'll help but it's not to creative.

What is the best hairdo to wear for softball?

What is the best hairdo to wear in order to prevent any loose hair parts while I play softball?|||Mohawk baby. Stay young, stay fresh. Short buzz with a little longer hawk.|||I play fast pitch and usually 2 french braids keeps my bangs out of my face. a high ponytail and a braid with your bangs braided in helps too. Feel free to use bobby pins they are hardly noticable and they don't cause pain while wearing batting helmets.|||i have been playing softball for 12 years and the best way to wear your hair is up. it doesn't matter how your wear it up as long as it is up|||how about one big braid, it'll be easy to take down and wash after the game and keep the hair out of your face,|||we use jennie finch headbands.

www.softballoutlet.com

they are 9.95 but well worth it|||When I went to my ex-girlfriends games most of the girls had their hair up in like a bun or a pony tail.|||A ponytail with a thin head band.|||Braids, High Pony (with bangs pulled up IF ALLOWED) to french braids. anything up to keep your hair out of the way!

What fastpitch softball bat should I consider?

I am looking for a new softball bat for the upcoming season and I would like to get it early so that I can become familiar with it before the season starts. I am 5'0 so I need a relatively short bat. I have never really been a long ball hitter and I prefer to be able to swing the bat fast. I am also asked to bunt frequently. So what bat(s) should I consider? Please let me know and thanks in advance!|||go to a sports store|||Check with someone at a good sports store... MC Sports or something.... They'll always be glad to help out and are typically experts on that sort of thing.|||a nice light bat, thats composite and can get a good hit if you do swing away is the catalyst by louisville slugger

i love it|||I play men's fastpitch fastball, and I always see the green 2-piece bats. I think they are Easton. They are classified as slow-pitch bats, but we use them because they never bend. All the fast pitch bats would bend.

How many pitches should an 11 year-old softball pitcher have?

I am 11 (12 on march 28) and i am a softball pitcher. I currently havve three pitches; fastball, change-up , and a drop ball.(which i am throwing good.) Should I ask my pitching coach when I will be learning a new pitch or what?|||If you want to ask about a new pitch from a curiosity stand point, why not? I think 3 pitches for your age is excellent. I've seen girls @ 11, 12 say they know 6 or 7 pitches, but all of them look like a fastball. My daughter is 12 and also knows 3, but the 3 she knows, she throws really well. She asks me sometimes when she'll learn another. I leave it up to her coach to decide when she's ready.|||I was a pitcher for 11 years. It's good to hear that you are taking your time with your pitches and developing them well. I would say for now, you are fine with those pitches. You are better of developing a few pitches that you throw very well they trying to establish a whole arsenal of mediocre pitches. Just make sure that you are able to throw those pitches with accuracy (inside, outside etc.) When you are able to throw these pitches with great accuracy, you are in great shape.

Probably in another year or two when the softball competition gets a bit tougher, I would recommend learning a curve ball. The curve ball ended up being my best pitch (but again, it was though much practice). [It's a great strike out pitch!]

Also, make sure you know when to throw your pitches so that they work to their greatest potential and keeps hitters on their toes.|||If you have 3 pitches and can control them, why would you need more?

Most pitchers don't have 2 good pitches.

Your fast ball makes the change up and drop look better.

A good pitcher controls the game, even if you have all of the pitches you can lose if you can't fool the batters.

Is there a difference between softball and baseball cleats?

I am about to start softball and i have never played before. I have some cleats and i was wondering if there was a difference between softball and baseball cleats. if so what is it?|||There is no difference. The only difference there MIGHT be is the bottom of the cleat. You can have METAL or MOLDED cleats. There are softball cleats that are metal but the majority of the time the baseball cleats TEND TO BE metal and softball cleats TEND TO BE molded. BUT, metal cleats are allowed in softball, made for softball, AND VISE VERSA. SO IT REALLY WOULDN'T MATTER WHAT CLEATS YOU BOUGHT.|||There is no real difference except baseball cleats come with metal spikes. Some cleats can be changed so they can be metal or rubber. You can't wear the metal cleats playing softball in high school or playing most rec leagues.|||not really

except..

ones for guys

the otheres for girls|||I'm with the 14 15' group in baseball and we got sharper metal cleats so if we get in a fight we can stab the other oponets face. but yes all metal cleats are quiete different basically in style some grip bases better while running like mine do but i play on a grass field so you need the sharp grip ones :D more excuses too hurt some1 with em. second base for the win but good luck in softball don't ever play baseball girls r too weak :D emotional i stand in that statement.|||You should check with you league on the type of cleat. In my league we cannot have metals; they have to be solid plastic. So I advise you to check with your coach or softball league rules of play.|||no difference|||there's really no difference besides the way they fit, just like the difference between men's and women's shoes

baseball cleats come in both metal and platic, and so do softball cleats

i would recommend metal cleats if they are allowed

Why do softball players always crowd the plate for EVERY homerun?

I can't watch the us softball team anymore. Every single time someone hits a homerun, all the players gather around the plate and celebrate as if they have just won the world series. I think it is really pathetic and childish. They should be able to act like they have been there before. Would a little sportsmanship hurt?|||gee, sort of like all those soccer players do when they jump all over a player who scores one lousy goal?

If it's good enough for professional kick ball players, why not softball?

My suggestion is if it bothers you that much, turn the channel! Pretty simple solution.|||yeah i noticed that too, its really annoying, just get on with the game already|||Hitting a homerun isn't as easy as it looks. The whole point of the game is sportsmanship, so when a teammate of yours hits a homerun one of the best ways to congratulate them is to meet them at homeplate. It's always been the thing-to-do when a person hits a homerun so I don't see why they would just stop all of a sudden.
