What is the best way to break in a new softball bat?

I just bought a new softball bat and I need to break it in pronto. It has some kind of technology that won't let you do anything illegal to it without it showing up. People have told me to hit it off metal poles over and over but this just seems too odd. What is the best thing to do?|||practice|||Batting practice. if its mens league then 100 plus cuts should get the job done.
