Is it possible to recieve a college softball scholarship through travel ball, instead of school ball?

I love softball, it's practically my life. I was just wondering about this. Seeing if it is possible. Thanks.|||Yes. It is not only "possible" - but it is actually much more likely that college scouts will see you at travel ball tournaments.

The two most likely ways to get recruited by a college are:

1. Travel "club" ball

2. Attending college softball camps

Here's why I say this...

My daughters went to the Arizona State University softball camp after they won the national championship in 2008. I spent time talking with head coach Clint Myers, and I asked him about where he recruits from and why. He said that he and most college coaches do not go to high school games because the NCAA limits the number of recruiting "visits" each school can make per year. He said that he could use one visit to go to a high school game or tournament with 2 to 10 teams and see a very small number of potential recruits. Or, he can use one visit to go to a regional or national travel "club" tournament and see 20-40 teams. He said that this is why most colleges recruit through travel ball.

Do you want to know what ASU Coach Myers said is the BEST way to get a scholarship?

He said go to the college softball camps. He recruits from his camps because he not only sees the players for longer periods of time, often over a few years in a row, but he also gets to really talk to the players and get to know their personality %26amp; attitude during camp.

Good luck to you!!|||very possible. all you have to do is compete in Exposure tournaments or showcases. Make sure you also attend camps and other events that have college coaches attending and watching. While doing all of this, you MUST write/call/visit any colleges your interested in. I just went to a camp last week and was told that if you plan to go to a certain college, you name must come across their desk every single week, their email better be blown up with your name and requests to come watch you play. Also remember, every second your on the field, play 100%, you never know when the right person is watching. word travels quickly in the softball world.|||Yes it is if you play well enough.
