What is the best way to keep vegitation off of a softball field?

We have multiple softball fields, and have a hard time keeping weeds from growing in the infield. I need ideas that work longer than Round Up.|||My first thought was to have the kids rip up as many weeds as they could. Maybe make a competition out of it by weighing them after after 15 minutes, trash included, cans and cigarette butts etc.|||Can't think of anything else that would be safe besides Round Up, try contacting Scotts,and Dupont .They are major makers of the stuff to do this, also contact your park maintenance department. Hope this helps you find your product.

Poppy|||Rake it.. By hand or by machine. It's a PIA I know but chemicals leave you open to lawsuits(pollutant,allergen,etc). Try to assign a field to a team or teams to help maintain them or charge dues ,fund raise ,etc.and pay someone.You have to assume that at some point Kids will be using the fields, and believe me Poison and parents don't mix.

Good Luck,|||Dormasol...
