Okay Im going to start playing softball and what are some tips or things i should know?

Okay so I might get into girl softball and I want to know how to improve my hitting skills.|||So if your playing travel softball it's pretty intense you are giving up almost every weekend, but it's well worth it if you love it that much. But softball in general is really a great team sport.

TIPS-

hitting: when hitting keep your eyes on the ball the whole time and watch it all the way in, try to hit it out front, try to make contact in the middle of the ball, turn your back foot all the way, and don't drop your hands down.

base running: you can steal and lead off when the pitcher releases the ball, and if you have to slide it probably should be feet first not head first, and just remember to be aggressive and get to the base as fast as possible.

fielding: charge the grounders so you can get to the ball quicker and throw them out sooner, on bunts as soon as you see their hands square charge in, and most likely on bunts you will throw to first.

good luck Softballs a great sport but it requires alot of practice, but just remember to have fun!|||Squish the bug (turn your foot)

Watch the ball hit the bat

Line up your knuckles on the bat (The second joint from the top. Not the flat part, the bendy part *wishing i had a picture*)

And it might help to experiment with some of your teammates' bats if you can borrow them.

Oh and if you want a really cool drill get like a bunch of like wiffle balls or something and put a number on each one. Get somebody to toss them to you. In addition to having to hit the ball, you have to say what number was on each ball.

Another drill is to have someone toss basketballs at you. You have to try not to let the bat come back at you when you swing. This will teach you to swing through.

And that's all I can think of right now.|||try watching the ball all the way in and remember if it doesn't go over the plate DON'T HIT because if you do swing and miss it, it's a strike. remember to turn your back foot ( squish the bug) and try to bend you knees a little!it always helps to have extra practice so try to find a local batting cage and ask one of your parents to take you !

good luck!|||Study proper stance, rotation, contact and follow through. Make sure you have your head steady when you're hitting

It is important as well to keep focus on what you do and practice often
