How fast should a varsity senior pitch a softball?

I was just wondering if I am good or just better than the other pitchers on the team. I pitch around 64, and they all average about 57 or so. I'm 17, most of them are between 16 and 18. How fast do you or did you pitch a softball?|||I think I remember seeing on This Week in Baseball that between 60-70 is a good hard pitch. I've never pitched that hard, but based on what I know you're at a very good speed.|||see thats a real baseball/softball player. "forgett about the radar gun just get the people out"

yeah dont get caught up in the speed there are many people who are good players and arent overpowering fast|||Most seniors I have encountered vary from 55-65. Throwing around 64 is throwing pretty hard. You have to remember, though, that many pitchers vary in their style of pitching. The junk pitchers won't throw as hard, but can be just as effective.|||I would worry about the movement of your pitches as well, as opposed to the speed. Speed is good, but after the first time through a batting order, the opposition will have the timing down.|||Forget the radar gun and just concentrate on getting people out.

What are some tips on breaking in a softball glove?

I recently started playing slow pitch mens softball and I wanted all you guys tips on the best way to break in a sftball glove, not just using the leather treatment, or tieing rubber bands around it with a ball in it but more creative ways.|||After you've done the leather treatment, wear the glove around the house and just throw a softball into it. Watch a TV show or something while you sit there and just throw the ball into the pocket. The best way to break in a glove is to give it constant use, and by throwing it into the pocket without playing anything, you'll break it in faster. After you've done this for a while, wrap a ball in it and let it sit for a couple hours and repeat the process later. I've done this numerous times with my baseball gloves, and I can usually have a brand-new glove perfectly broken in in about 5 days.|||Play catch with a waterlogged ball because of its weight will help wear in the glove. Also What I did was use glove oil and put a ball in it and wrap it up overnight and that'll help but it's not to creative.

What is the best hairdo to wear for softball?

What is the best hairdo to wear in order to prevent any loose hair parts while I play softball?|||Mohawk baby. Stay young, stay fresh. Short buzz with a little longer hawk.|||I play fast pitch and usually 2 french braids keeps my bangs out of my face. a high ponytail and a braid with your bangs braided in helps too. Feel free to use bobby pins they are hardly noticable and they don't cause pain while wearing batting helmets.|||i have been playing softball for 12 years and the best way to wear your hair is up. it doesn't matter how your wear it up as long as it is up|||how about one big braid, it'll be easy to take down and wash after the game and keep the hair out of your face,|||we use jennie finch headbands.

What fastpitch softball bat should I consider?

I am looking for a new softball bat for the upcoming season and I would like to get it early so that I can become familiar with it before the season starts. I am 5'0 so I need a relatively short bat. I have never really been a long ball hitter and I prefer to be able to swing the bat fast. I am also asked to bunt frequently. So what bat(s) should I consider? Please let me know and thanks in advance!|||go to a sports store|||Check with someone at a good sports store... MC Sports or something.... They'll always be glad to help out and are typically experts on that sort of thing.|||a nice light bat, thats composite and can get a good hit if you do swing away is the catalyst by louisville slugger

i love it|||I play men's fastpitch fastball, and I always see the green 2-piece bats. I think they are Easton. They are classified as slow-pitch bats, but we use them because they never bend. All the fast pitch bats would bend.

How many pitches should an 11 year-old softball pitcher have?

I am 11 (12 on march 28) and i am a softball pitcher. I currently havve three pitches; fastball, change-up , and a drop ball.(which i am throwing good.) Should I ask my pitching coach when I will be learning a new pitch or what?|||If you want to ask about a new pitch from a curiosity stand point, why not? I think 3 pitches for your age is excellent. I've seen girls @ 11, 12 say they know 6 or 7 pitches, but all of them look like a fastball. My daughter is 12 and also knows 3, but the 3 she knows, she throws really well. She asks me sometimes when she'll learn another. I leave it up to her coach to decide when she's ready.|||I was a pitcher for 11 years. It's good to hear that you are taking your time with your pitches and developing them well. I would say for now, you are fine with those pitches. You are better of developing a few pitches that you throw very well they trying to establish a whole arsenal of mediocre pitches. Just make sure that you are able to throw those pitches with accuracy (inside, outside etc.) When you are able to throw these pitches with great accuracy, you are in great shape.

Probably in another year or two when the softball competition gets a bit tougher, I would recommend learning a curve ball. The curve ball ended up being my best pitch (but again, it was though much practice). [It's a great strike out pitch!]

Also, make sure you know when to throw your pitches so that they work to their greatest potential and keeps hitters on their toes.|||If you have 3 pitches and can control them, why would you need more?

Most pitchers don't have 2 good pitches.

Your fast ball makes the change up and drop look better.

A good pitcher controls the game, even if you have all of the pitches you can lose if you can't fool the batters.

Is there a difference between softball and baseball cleats?

I am about to start softball and i have never played before. I have some cleats and i was wondering if there was a difference between softball and baseball cleats. if so what is it?|||There is no difference. The only difference there MIGHT be is the bottom of the cleat. You can have METAL or MOLDED cleats. There are softball cleats that are metal but the majority of the time the baseball cleats TEND TO BE metal and softball cleats TEND TO BE molded. BUT, metal cleats are allowed in softball, made for softball, AND VISE VERSA. SO IT REALLY WOULDN'T MATTER WHAT CLEATS YOU BOUGHT.|||There is no real difference except baseball cleats come with metal spikes. Some cleats can be changed so they can be metal or rubber. You can't wear the metal cleats playing softball in high school or playing most rec leagues.|||not really

except..

ones for guys

the otheres for girls|||I'm with the 14 15' group in baseball and we got sharper metal cleats so if we get in a fight we can stab the other oponets face. but yes all metal cleats are quiete different basically in style some grip bases better while running like mine do but i play on a grass field so you need the sharp grip ones :D more excuses too hurt some1 with em. second base for the win but good luck in softball don't ever play baseball girls r too weak :D emotional i stand in that statement.|||You should check with you league on the type of cleat. In my league we cannot have metals; they have to be solid plastic. So I advise you to check with your coach or softball league rules of play.|||no difference|||there's really no difference besides the way they fit, just like the difference between men's and women's shoes

baseball cleats come in both metal and platic, and so do softball cleats

i would recommend metal cleats if they are allowed

Why do softball players always crowd the plate for EVERY homerun?

I can't watch the us softball team anymore. Every single time someone hits a homerun, all the players gather around the plate and celebrate as if they have just won the world series. I think it is really pathetic and childish. They should be able to act like they have been there before. Would a little sportsmanship hurt?|||gee, sort of like all those soccer players do when they jump all over a player who scores one lousy goal?

If it's good enough for professional kick ball players, why not softball?

My suggestion is if it bothers you that much, turn the channel! Pretty simple solution.|||yeah i noticed that too, its really annoying, just get on with the game already|||Hitting a homerun isn't as easy as it looks. The whole point of the game is sportsmanship, so when a teammate of yours hits a homerun one of the best ways to congratulate them is to meet them at homeplate. It's always been the thing-to-do when a person hits a homerun so I don't see why they would just stop all of a sudden.

How do I stay in shape during the softball off season?

I play for a tournament softball team, we had our last game and won't play again until January. How do I stay in shape, practice, get better, etc over the winter?|||Hey!

I play softball too and I kno it can be tough to stay in shape. Here are a few simple ways to stay in shape:

-try to run at least 3 times a week

-find someone to throw the ball with every once in a while

-stretch as often as possible

-toss yourself pop flies

-do wrist snaps into ur glove

-go to batting cages!

-play another sport

-eat healthy|||Lots of beer, pizza and cigars. You will be in perfect shape for next season.|||play like basketball or another winter sport|||are you seriuos? No one in softball is in shape...that is why they play softball! Just hit the cages once in a while %26amp; maybe a practice or two a month. Softball is pretty damn easy. I play for 3 softball teams %26amp; 1 baseball team on the weekends, i never worry about getting into or staying in shape, you dont need to do anything really.

Wow vicious peopole, i apologize, I was under the asumption the question was regarding slow pitch softball! I didnt realize it was womens softball, that is another matter completely. I have seen women fast pitch softball %26amp; they are in damn good shape! Coudlnt help ya on that never played fastpitch softball, only baseball! I apologize people commun misunderstanding. It doesnt say it is slow pitch or not %26amp; i made an asumption!|||You can join another team that may be less competitive than a tournament team. You can go out maybe a couple times a week or more and hit in batting cages, get a friend to soft toss to you or you can get a tee and hit off one of those by yourself. Another thing is just simply go out for a jog everyday, do another sport completely that you like until you start up again. Hope this helped

Kevin ....your an idiot you most likely play on a men's softball team that uses the squishy white balls. Am I right? That's called slow pitch and its intended for aging old men. This person is probably talking about fast-pitch which is entirely different. I play for my school and on a couple of other teams. I have conflicts cause we practice everyday. People like you really tick me off.|||That Kevin dude is a dumb ***. He's just ignorant.

Basically..stay as active as possible during the off season.|||you should just execise daily or something. i have played softball for 9 years and i worry about the same thing.

:)|||Okay first of all, that Kevin dude is extremely ignorant and obviously doesn't know what in the name of all that is holy he's talking about. I would suggest to stay in shape, you hit the gym. As in using the treadmill, lifting some weights, but for getting better during softball, I'd suggest you just keep getting someone just to throw the ball around with you, or maybe get to the batting cages every once in a while.|||bowl and lots of beer. How should I wear my hair for my softball game?

Okay, So I have a softball game in an hour, and I never know how to wear my hair. If I put it in a pony tail, it always gets messed up. And, I have NO clue how to french braid. I am 12, in 8th grade. My hair is a little passed my shoulders, and it is brown with blonde highlights! All suggestions are welcome! Thanks!|||buzz|||Well, in softball, your hair is always going to get messed up. lol. But I do this:

1. Get your hair wet and put it in a high, tight ponytail.

2. Pull the hair tie out a little to loosen up the ponytail just a little.

3. Here comes the confusing part... hold your hair tie with one hand and with the other hand, put one finger in your hair, from the TOP. It's like when you part your hair down the middle, you go all the way from the front to where the hair tie is. EXCEPT, do not part your hair till you get to your hair tie.

I'll try to draw it. lol. If you are looking at this from the top, this is what it should look like.

hole: O

tie: ===

4. Then, with the hair tie in your hand, put the hair tie and hair into the hole. Basically just flip your hair towards your head.

5. Pull tight and put a cute headband on. Then put a cute bow.

Basically, your hair is just doing a front flip. That is really the best I can explain it. Sorry if you don't understand, but if you do, it is just a really cute hairstyle that us 17 year old kids do.|||I always wear mine in a ponytail to softball games. If you have pieces of hair that fall into your face, use a headband to keep those hairs back.|||if you have no fringe-straighten it and draw it back into a SLEEK ponytail and if you do have a fringe clip it back|||Pull it back in a ponytail. But once you get it nice and tight, put a sport ponytail and you're good to go.|||I would do two piggy tails. I think they look cute under a helmet. Use a thin headband to pull back any stray hairs.

Does anyone know what you need to do to start a youth fast-pitch softball traveling team?

I live in NC and there isn't much for the good softball players to do except rec and school ball. My 12yo daughter wants to play year round and the only other team in the area is all about who you know. We are new in town and aren't in tight with these people. How would I go about finding a sponsor for a men's softball team?

My husband's modified softball team (not slow pitch) has been together for over 10 years with the same sponsor the whole time. Now that money is tight the sponsor has backed out. (at the last minute) Now not sure were to look for a new one. Please help.|||Call local bars, restaraunts, real estate agencies, banks, etc. Tell them the price to sponsor the team and let them know THEIR name will be advertised across the jerseys, etc and they will be well represented. They probably will want to know "whats in it for them"....tell them publicity.|||GO TO YOUR FAVORITE TAVERN OR FIND A NEW ONE|||It will be difficult. Men's softball is not something that most businesses would want to be associated with. Ohhhhhhhhhh...BURN!!!|||Hit local restaraunts, bars, and other business with strong ties to the local community. Not really hard if you ask.|||Print up flyers, and put them on local street corners.

Is it possible to recieve a college softball scholarship through travel ball, instead of school ball?

I love softball, it's practically my life. I was just wondering about this. Seeing if it is possible. Thanks.|||Yes. It is not only "possible" - but it is actually much more likely that college scouts will see you at travel ball tournaments.

The two most likely ways to get recruited by a college are:

1. Travel "club" ball

2. Attending college softball camps

Here's why I say this...

My daughters went to the Arizona State University softball camp after they won the national championship in 2008. I spent time talking with head coach Clint Myers, and I asked him about where he recruits from and why. He said that he and most college coaches do not go to high school games because the NCAA limits the number of recruiting "visits" each school can make per year. He said that he could use one visit to go to a high school game or tournament with 2 to 10 teams and see a very small number of potential recruits. Or, he can use one visit to go to a regional or national travel "club" tournament and see 20-40 teams. He said that this is why most colleges recruit through travel ball.

Do you want to know what ASU Coach Myers said is the BEST way to get a scholarship?

He said go to the college softball camps. He recruits from his camps because he not only sees the players for longer periods of time, often over a few years in a row, but he also gets to really talk to the players and get to know their personality %26amp; attitude during camp.

Good luck to you!!|||very possible. all you have to do is compete in Exposure tournaments or showcases. Make sure you also attend camps and other events that have college coaches attending and watching. While doing all of this, you MUST write/call/visit any colleges your interested in. I just went to a camp last week and was told that if you plan to go to a certain college, you name must come across their desk every single week, their email better be blown up with your name and requests to come watch you play. Also remember, every second your on the field, play 100%, you never know when the right person is watching. word travels quickly in the softball world.|||Yes it is if you play well enough.

Good luck!!!

What are some great tips on playin softball?

I play softball with my church %26amp; i have problems with catching the ball %26amp; hitting it.

Any tips that would be useful?|||Make sure to check your form. Having the correct fielding and hitting form will go a long long way. dont change proper form because you think you can't hit or catch.

Catching:

- catch ball at center of body

- Cover with free hand

- dont grab ball with glove just make sure it enters then cover with free hand

- for groundballs stay low, butt down and keep glove infront of you

Hitting:

-dont forget to use your hips for rotation

- Dont move head when hitting, keep eyes glued to where you're suppose to hit

- Hit ball in front of you|||start everyday throwing with someone and continuously move back until you're at a good distance, that should help you catching, a long with having someone throw a ball in different ways and you going to get it, with hitting, square your body to the plate, tuck your shoulder, build momentum from our hips, watch the ball the whole way, and follow through|||Watch the ball all the way into the mitt and until it touches the bat. The most common mistake hitters make is not seeing it all the way through.

Trivia Question

What is the fastest fast pitch softball pitch ever recorded?

Trivia Question Answer

There is no "official" record for the fastest softball pitch. Here are some of the reputed records after a search of various archives:

Guinness is supposed to have clocked a softball pitch at 68.9 miles per hour.

National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), a women's professional softball league, claims that pitches of "70+" MPH are common. There are many other references in various sources making the same 70+ miles per hour claim.

The fastest softball pitch reportedly clocked at the Atlanta Olympics was 73.2 MPH.

Eddie Feigner, a famous softball player and the founder of the "King and His Court" 4-man softball team is supposed to have been clocked at 104 miles per hour. In a game against Major Leaguers ballplayers, Eddie Feigner struck out, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Brooks Robinson Willie McCovey, Maurey Wills, and Harmon Killebrew all in a row.|||The world's fastest softball pitch was pitched by Bobby Spell, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1955, on the campus of LSU, clocked by the Army at 126 mph. This is certified.

How can I cover up a scratch left from getting hit by a softball?

Today I got hit in the chin by a softball and there is the most disgusting little red mark on my chin, and it is extremely unflattering. What kind of things can I use to cover it up?|||Either foundation or concealer should work just fine!

Foundation is lighter and covers up uneven skin tone. So if the bruise is not that dark, it will be covered up just fine. Liquid foundation works well and goes on smooth. Then you can use a pressed powder (or loose powder) foundation on top, so it looks matte and flawless!

http://www.strawberrynet.com/images/prod…

If foundation doesn't cover enough, try concealer!

Concealer never fails. It's suggested that you buy concealer a shade lighter than your natural skin tone so that it covers up the blemishes better. The difference is that concealer is thicker, creamier and covers more than foundation.

http://www.mydarkcirclesblog.com/wp-cont…

I use concealer to cover up acne scars. So it'll def cover up scratches.|||hmm well I'm definitely used to getting softball bruises and scratches. It's probably not a good idea to put any liquid make-up over an open cut. How should I prepare for high school softball tryouts?

I'm a freshmen in high school. My old middle school offered absolutely no sports so I don't have much experienced in being in a school team. The most I've played are small games with my friends in their backyard. I wouldn't say I'm not athletic. Just less experienced in competitive sports. I chickened out for basketball because of that. And I don't want to do the same for softball. Tryouts are in the spring giving me a few months. Anyone have any suggestions?|||First off take a deep breath. Let it out. Just know that you can succeed. Anything you put your mind to, you will achieve. Just believe. I wasn't nervous for my tryouts at all. If you have confidence, you won't be nervous. You don't have to think you're the best, just know you're better than some. (That sounded really bad.) Don't try to showoff when you go. The last thing you want is to mess up. That means there is a lot of pressure on you right? No. They really just look for the basics. If you can field a ground ball (not even hit that sharply) you'll do fine. It's routine. It'll just come to you. You'll be focused and in "the zone". You won't even notice anyone else and everyone else will be focused that they won't notice if you messed up or anything.

Anyway, I do have some tips and drills that may help you. The drills are mixed in with the tips, but they're there and here's my list:

Batting:

1. Always throw your hands at the ball. It'll get you through the zone quicker and you swing right at the ball. Don't use your arms or shoulders, you'll swing late and there's a possibility of injury.

2. Make sure the bat is the right size and has a good drop weight. You don't want to swing a bat that's too heavy, or you'll swing late.

3. Leave your head down, don't bring it up. Watch the ball hit the bat.

4. Wait for your pitch, if it's a ball or not where you want it, don't swing.

5. Be aware of what types of pitches the pitcher has. Sit back on change-ups, don't swing to early.

6. Don't grip the bat too tight, it'll sting your hands and give you blisters.

7. Don't get down/lose confidence because of a previous hit.

8. Know your strike zone.

9. When you're using a pitching machine, chances are you're getting used to the speed and not actually watching the ball. WATCH THE BALL!

10. Hit off a tee. If the tee moves you're not hitting the ball right. Hit the middle of the ball. The only way to do this right is by watching the ball.

11. Soft toss. If you don't know what this is, it's when someone kneels next to you and tosses a ball in front of you, and you hit it (usually into a fence).

12. Always catch the ball out front. If the balls over the plate, it's too late. You should make contact before it crosses the plate.

13. If you're right handed, and you hit the ball and it goes foul to the left you're too early and if it goes to the right you're late. If you're left it's the opposite.

14. Don't be afraid of a walk. I don't know about you, but a lot of people want to go up there and hit. If you're going to want to hit (like most do) wait for your pitch. Take a ball (or 4).

15. Think single or double not fences. A single or double can be a lot more helpful than flying out trying to hit the game winning homerun.

Bunting:

1. Hold the bat out with both feet toward the pitcher. Hold the bat at a 45 degree angle upwards like / but at 45 degrees. You know what I'm saying?

2. Don't chop/poke at the ball. Use your legs to go up and down and let the ball hit the bat and die off.

3. Pull the bat handle towards third to bunt to first and vice versa. Never back to the pitcher or into the air. Try to get it down the third base line.

4. If it's a sacrifice, it doesn't matter where the ball is, you have to get the bunt down.

Throwing:

1. Quick toss. Have someone throw with you and catch and release quickly.

2. Hard toss. Do the same but try to throw it harder and at a good height.

3. When you release the ball, you should be in a motion that looks like you threw the ball the the gound. (But you actually released it, it's the follow through)

4. Use your glove to set the target.

5. No side arm. Espically for an outfielder. Yes it's the quickest way to throw the ball, but actually go through and overhand motion.

6. Crow hop. If you don't know what this is, search for a video. This gives you more power.

Strength/Conditioning:

1. Run laps around the field, not the bases, the entire field.

2. Sprints. Run to first a few times. Go back to home and run to first than second, etc. until you run around the bases.

3. Lifting weights. Not too heavy, just enough to get toned.

4. More sprints or suicides.

In the Outfield:

1. Have someone hit fly balls (off a bat, don't throw. It'll train your eye better) Do step 2 at the same time.

2. Long throws. Catch the ball crow hop and throw it in to different positions as if there were different situations.

3. Have line drives hit to you and do the same as step 2.

4. Grounders through the gap (step 2)

5. During a game, make sure you back up everything. If, in your case, the first baseman missing the ball and you don't get it, the runners getting extra bases. Be aware on snap throws (when catch will throw the ball down after the pitch and pick them off)

Good luck with everything! Just don't be nervous. If you are having second thoughts about going in, just know that if you don't go in, you won't know if you would have made it or not. You'll ask yourself "Woul|||I just want to say I am glad to hear you want to try out for sports. Sports is just not being good. It's about being dedicated and mentally ready. Read up on the sport, practice techniques. Never feel you are not good enough or that you lack in the sport. Knowledge is the key and to work hard to achieve any goals you desire. First you need to be mentally ready. Which means you will have to sacrifice your time with your friends. I don't mean to blow them off, but limit your time. Or see if they will train with you to help you. If you want to be in the sport you need to be ready for the sport. Like I said, go on line or speak with the coach to inform him you are interested and is there any help he can give you. Most of all, you need to be fit. Join a local gym to work on your cardio and eat healthy. Good luck to you.|||A lot of coaches look at athletic ability and fitness. So first and foremost, I would do some running so you're not out of shape. That's probably the most important thing.

Also, I would just play catch with someone. Have them toss you grounders and get comfy using a glove.

For batting, get comfortable using a softball bat. Go to batting cages. Think about bat speed rather than hitting the ball hard. Your first few times you go, just try to make consistent contact.|||Find some people and practice peppering and work on your footwork and catching. Also it would be good if you started jogging a bit to build up your endurance so you can be put through anything and not look tired in front of the coach and while playing games.|||I play baseball. You can get private lessons or play in a small field with friends. Probably a scimmage. But before this you should get equipment incase you want to play again.|||batting cages are always helpful. have someone throw a ball to you and practice fielding ground balls and pop flys on the sidewalk|||Play catch at least every other day with someone.

Jog. High school coaches are big on making players run at the start of practice, and do sprints at the end. It's best to get used to lots of running before the season starts.

Find the local batting cage and go once a week.

Figure out which position you want to try out for. Usually, they ask on the first day, and you tryout based on that position. It would be smart of you to figure out what positions will likely be filled by returning players, and go for a position that has been vacated.

Also, make sure you know all of the rules for your league/division. Make sure that you are 'in shape'. Tone up those muscles, eat healthy, don't smoke or drink.

Important things coaches look for:

team player

fielding skills

batting skills

pitching skills

running speed

ability to make plays

confidence

knowledge of the rules/game

good attitude

good grades in your classes

Expect several days of tryouts. Lots of running, drills, repitition. Arrive prepared with a water bottle, etc. It might be a good idea to introduce yourself to one of the coaches and ask about available positions, etc. That way, you won't be a total newbie for tryouts. And one other thing: show up early for practice, stretch out ahead of time. Coaches like players who come prepared.|||youll probly make it because most girls suck at baseball/softball

How can I reduce my fear of the ball in softball?

I'm moving up to the next softball league this year, and will be playing with 18-year olds. I recently got drafted as a pitcher, and am extremely nervous. The way some of those people hit the ball, if it hit me, I would be dead. I pitch fast-pitch so the speed is incredible.

I'm not "scared", per se, but I'm as frightened as anyone would be when a softball flies by their face at 100 MPH.|||well obviously they wouldnt have moved you up if they didnt think you were ready. what i would suggest is visualization. sit in your room/ back yard/ softball field and think about that player hitting the ball at you. ((i know you're probably thinking that im insane right? but just follow me here)) and image the ball going at your... head/leg/stomach [where ever you're "afraid" of getting hit] and imagine you CATCHING THAT BALL!!!! dont imagine it hitting you! DO NOT!!!!! but just visualize that ball landing in your glove.

its all a mental thing. no worries.|||To reduce the fear of the softball hitting you just think as if you have a force field around you, but I play baseball and im 16 so I know what you mean and the strategy I use to reduce the fear of the ball hitting me is think that the pitcher is so good and has great accuracy so the ball can't hit you. Good Luck!|||Without altering your pitching motion, maybe practice taking a step back after delivery. It will give you a shade more time to react if necessary. My father pitches in adult rec slo-pitch and those balls usually go upwards off the bat as opposed to line drives. Congratulations on moving up!|||man up|||dont worry about it too much just focus on the batter and if it does come to u be ready to catch it|||Allow the momentum of the pitch to throw your body forward, then lay on the ground with your hands on your head and pray there are no grounders.|||jump in the batting cage and step in front of a few :D|||WHEN I PLAYED BASEBALL, OUR COACH WOULD THROW TENNIS BALLS AT THE INFIELDERS CLOSE UP TO GET THEM USED TO BALLS BOUNCING OFF OF THEM. (ESPECIALLY 3RD BASE PROSPECTS) THEN MOVE UP TO THE REAL BALL, THE HE WOULD HIT BALLS AT US. AFTER THE FIRST FEW, IT'S NOT SO BAD AND THE FEAR GOES AWAY. IT'S LIKE DIVING OFF THE HIGH DIVE OR BUNGIE JUMPING, AFTER THE FIRST ONE, IT'S EASIER TO HANDLE.|||When I first started playing softball, I got hit in the nose, first practice..I was ready to quit then thought of what I would have missed out on. And just think, the pitchers in high leagues have EXTREMELY great accuracy, so there's no need to worry about getting hit.|||the only way to really get over that fear is practice.

you can also wear a mask. I wear one because i broke my nose and it really helped me get over my fear. some of them are really ugly. i'll get back to you with the brand that i have. you can get it sothat it matches your uniform and it doesn't cover your entire face [unless you want one that does]

What do I need to do to prepare myself for softball tryouts?

I am trying out for my school's softball team soon. I have never played a sport really but my mom played softball so I thought I would try it out. I know some things like fielding, batting, shortstop, ground balls, just a few things from playing in the backyard. If anyone can give me a few pointers and some more things that I need to practice I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! =)|||Hello :] I have played softball for many years so I hope I can help.

#1. Since you haven't played any sports before, I would make sure your in shape. This means running, throwing and mentally in shape for a game. Do you know all about the game? Do you know what a pop fly is? What a change-up is or the in-field-fly rule? You need to make sure you learn all these thing too. Not just how to throw. I can help you, but you just need to email me on yahoo.

#2. Whenever I try out for softball, I always try to stay positive. Make sure during a game and tryouts and practice you don't get down. If you get down then your game will be off and everything goes downhill from there. Make sure you just smile after a mistake and move on!

#3. Have you batted against a pitcher? If you haven't I would strongly suggest you go to batting cages or have your mother throw you some balls. Maybe you have hit off a tee or slow pitch, but pitchers these days have fast, accurate arms and it may be difficult.

#4. One thing to do during tryouts is to volunteer for catching for the coach and always be happy. My coach is very big on attitude so if your grumpy or mad she will not like you. Make sure you smile and try your hardest. If that means diving for a ball, well girl get down and dive! You get what you put into it.

#5. make sure you are doing this for yourself and not for your mom or anyone else. At one point in my softball years I HATED softball cause I was doing it for my dad. And he was pushing me... HARD. So when I told him how i felt, he stopped pushing and I was doing it for myself again and it was great.

So be positive, smile, and have fun :]

(if you have any questions at all about softball just go to my page on yahoo and email me. I would be very glad to help!!)|||I have been playing softball since I was 6, so I know a couple things about it. Whenever I am walking into a try-out, I am always telling myself that every day is a new day. Normally there was 3 days of try-outs at my school, so if I missed a ball on the first day, I had it to were it didn't bother or change how I played on the second day. The biggest thing that I have learned was to never go into something cocky. Coaches can see that, if they think that you have an attitude towards them or other players that are giving you some pointers on how to stand or something, they will see you as unteachable and you are going to get cut. Every single day, the coaches would tell us that they don't care if you are th greatest player on Earth, If you have a bad attitude they are going to cut you. Also, if you think that you are automatically on the team, coaches can see that, and will cut you.

Also, if you are having a really bad day, tell the coach. I am sure that they know what a bad day feels like. They will put that into account when they watch everyone. Also tell them if you are sick. They may think that you are fine, but really you have a headache or something.

A couple days in advance, I would stand in my room and pretend to swing a bat a couple times, or play catch with my father, just so I would get used to the movement and feel of it all over again from the winter. Make sure that you know the game well, and that if you were thrown in a game, you would know what to do. Where would the ball go in this situtaion? What happens if I catch a fly-ball here? What is a fly-ball? Those kind of things.

Normally at try-outs, the first day or so, you will run of some sort. They are actually harder on you then in practice. That's what I have found out. They are trying to weed out the players that are just there to be there or to say they tried-out for something. Don't be surprised if you run All.

All I can really tell you is good luck. If you miss something or mess up, don't let it bother you the next time up. If you don't know how to do something, ASK THE COACH. It will show that you want to learn and that you want to improve as a softball player. That helps you even more than if you just continue to do it wrong. Also, if you have learned to do something one way, and they show you another way, and you don't get it. Ask the coach, and explain that you didn't quite understand him and that you were showed a different way to do it, and that you want to learn it their way.

Good Luck!

Can anyone please give me some tips for conditioning and trying out for softball?

Hey everyone! I am trying out for my high school's softball team, and I have a little bit of weight to lose. I really want to be healthy and fit before intermurals. Intermurals start on Jan. 22, and I don't have that much time. I also have a membership at 24 hour fitness. I need to become thinner, healthier, and a good runner. So please give me healthy eating tips and conditioning tips! Thanks a bunch!|||HEY so good to see softball for a change! You just have to go to the gym regularly and eat good. Like instead of eating snickers eat apples or yogurt but allow your self to have at least one un healthy thing. Once you have tried out and if you make the team they will have you on a training and conditioning regemend. About the running well i am not sure I never realy focused on running because i am a pitcher and I hit and I figured its only 60 feet. The only thing I would suggest is wind sprints or suicides same thing! Hope this helps! Oh and try your best don't freak out and GOOD LUCK!

How do you get better at playing softball?

I'm on my school softball team. I'm a pretty decent player, but i want to get much much better. I know through lots of practice i can be better. Got any tips, or drills? (for batting AND feilding..I play shortstop)|||My tips:

Batting:

Be aware on snap throws (when catch will throw the ball down after the pitch and pick them off)|||Practice, take as many grounders as possible. Practice your swing until it is perfect. Try using a baseball while hitting. It is smaller and harder to hit so come game time you will be able to tee off on the sb better. good luck.|||Practice...|||To improve your softball game, practice at home is effective. How do I make my swing in softball more powerful?

I have a silver halo bat and my swing is pretty good. I hit far almost every time. I am left handed, so i can drag, bunt, hit, and slap. I need help to make my swing more powerful because, I'm playing tournament softball this year.|||A swing's power is all in the legs and hips. How to get a stronger throw for softball?

This year on the softball team I'm moving over to the shortstop position and I have a strong throw but I'd like to make it a little harder.. Is there any type of arm exercises I can do to increase that?|||Hey I play softball too :) what helps a lot is push ups, push ups, push ups! Trust me..this will help a LOT. I know they kinda suck, but if you can do 50 in the morning and 50 before you go to bed, you will see improvement quickly. It really helped for me. Also, any strength training involving your shoulders, biceps, triceps etc, will help a lot too. Like weight lifting, bicep curls, etc|||Hey! I play softball and to strengthen your arm you can keep both feet planted on the ground and throw. As your arm gets stronger, the person you throw to can move backward.

Also, you can practice throwing from short and back up once your arm gets stronger.

Or, you can go on your knees and throw. When your arm gets stronger, the person you throw to moves back.

HOPE THIS HELPED! GOOD LUCK!|||check you mechanics, if you're quick with your feet and you use that momentum for your throw you can do resistance training on your legs...you can do single leg squats, open squats, and hip abductor exercises will help. Make sure to add core workouts with lower body exercises. dips or close push-ups will help strengthen triceps and pull-overs or cable lat pull will help with the back.|||Quick throws, pull ups, and push ups would help. Lifting weights would just strain your arm, so don't do that a lot. You could lift weights, but not too often. Quick throws will help you throw faster and harder. Every time you throw quickly, if you concentrate you will throw hard. Pull ups will help you get your triceps and biceps stronger. Push ups will help you get total arm strength. Hope this helps!|||I dont play softball but I do play baseball and I know that if u can hold the ball with good grip that would help. So if u practice scweezing the ball that will help and u proboly know that practice makes perfect so practice throwing the ball and have confidence

It cleans leather very well, and it takes off dirt without ripping away at the leather. Saddle soap also helps to keep the glove conditioned and gives it some protection from those "occassional" wet games. You can probably get a tin of saddle soap for $4 or less at most of your local supermarkets---look where they keep the shoe polish/ feet sprays/Dr. Shoals stuff. You shouldn't have to get it at an equestrian store/mag. It should be available locally. If you find that it is unavailable, another product that works well is the Murphy's Oil Soap (just don't get the squirt kind...they make it thinner than the regular floor wash). Takes only a little squirt into a chamois cloth to take out dirt and protect leather like saddle soap. Hope these help and just for your FYI I use both on my leather shoes %26amp; belts for my job. I'm going to be playing 2nd base for my softball team this year. I've never played 2nd before, and I want to make sure I play well there.

Can anyone give me some tips and proper fundamentals to remember and use?

Thanks!|||As the second baseman you have a very short throw to 1B, therefore the focus is on stopping the ball at all costs rather than gloving it.

Yes it would be nice if you could catch everything cleanly, but if it's a hard line shot at least try to "body block" it... if it's a shot far to your left or right, dive and try to get a glove on it. In most cases you should have time to pick up the ball and make th throw to 1B.

You will also have to learn to throw from all different positions (throwing to first after charging a ball behind 2B ... throwing behind you to 2B to start a double play, etc.). Rather than focusing on picture-perfect mechanics, focus on your footwork so that you keep your balance. If you're balanced, you can adjust your upper body to make whatever throw you need, be it a quick sidearm flip to first or an underhand toss to the SS to start a double-play.

Finally, remember to keep your glove out in front of you when fielding grounders. A common mistake is to drop the glove down between your feet. From that position, it's impossible to make an adjustment on a bad hop. If the ball gets past your glove, it goes right through your legs. With your glove out if front of your feet you can still drop to a knee and try to block the ball as a last resort.

It's a great position...have fun with it.|||my dad/coach taught me and the rest of his teams a term called "ready set" when you see the pitcher start the windup bend your knees, open your glove, and put it in the dirt like you were going to catch a grounder. it really gets you to focus to what is going on in the game. i found it a lot easier when i started doing it. there were hardly any balls that went past me. it also helps if your back up is awake. be sure to yell and make sure they are always ready to back you up. don't know if this helps, but i sure hope so! :)|||second base gets a lot of grounders, so i would practice those. for covering the bag, you only cover second if the ball goes to the shortstop's side. if the ball goes to your side then focus on that. you should also always know where you throw when you get the ball.

also, if your league permits stealing second base, then make sure you're backing up the shortstop.

on a bunt to your side, if the person at first has to run up to get it, then you have to cover first on the throw.

that's pretty much all i can think of right now :-)|||Playing second is a big deal. you must cover the first baseman just incase they dont get it. Receiveing cutoff is just going about halfway between the outfielder and yourself. Run the half, yell 2nd, then put your glove out. If the ball is hit to the left side of the field, then cover your base. If it's hit to you, then you get the ball and short will cover. If the 1st baseman has to run up and catch the ball, you cover 1st, short will cover you. Watch for steals from 1st. When in ready position, have your glove almost down on the ground. Your knees are bent and you are ready to shuffle to the ball. Never get mad at yourself if you miss the ball, for you will become unconcentrated and miss more. When you get a grounder to you and your close enough to first, flick the ball to them from the ground.

and, HAVE FUN! :)|||Kind of a fun question for a change.

What should I eat before a softball game?

I am a 13 year old girl and I have an away softball game tonight. We will travel about one hour. What kind of meal should I eat before I leave that will fill me up but not make me too full? Should I bring snacks for the road? And if so, what? Thanks.|||I would try to eat a fairly heavy carb lunch - pasta's a good choice, but avoid real heavy sauces. I also would avoid eating a full dinner. Instead, I would wait until after the game to eat my big meal, and would instead have a snack of some raw carrots (gets the blood sugar up a bit) and some celery with peanut butter (celery will help fill you up, but actually will have negative calories - you burn more chewing it then you get from it, and the peanut butter is a good source of protein.

These are things that you could actually eat on the road.|||A sub sandwich beforehand, some kind of fruit (like grapes) as a snack. Natural foods make your body work better, so you'll be properly fueled. Chips have a lot of salt, so avoid them because they'll dehydrate you.|||you should eat pasta or a lot of bread to carb up and drink a bottle of water with dinner.i recomend eating a nutri grain bar for a snack because it has the perfect ammount of fruit so it wont give you a cramp.|||Dry pasta and water are the best things to have before a game.|||Drink lots of milk, then eat pancakes with syrup and biscuits and gravy. That always does the trick.

My softball team sucks. How do I keep it fun even when we are losing?

I am a very competitive person and my softball team really sucks. They are my friends so I don't want to switch teams. I need to try and do something to make it fun or I am going to alienate my friends. What can I do to make it fun even when we are losing?|||Hello, I am in a similar situation as you. My team does not win a lot of games. Just remember that you are there to learn and play softball with your friends and have fun. You will improve I am sure of it and I am sure there are teams that are worse than you. One day when you get really good you can transfer to another team (high school college ect.) Just try to have fun your not being payed to play!

Have a great season|||Throw the ball at Ur own teammates nuts?|||Try betting against your team, that way you'll be having some fun while making a few bucks.|||First of all talk to your friends and ask them what their goals are for the tournament or the reason they joined. Maybe they joined to have fun or just be with each other. If you have different goals then there will be a problem. Tell them what you want to happen for the team and if they like your suggestion of practicing then prepare a good practice session for them.

What are some catchy phrases for softball and track?

We are making school t-shirts for the softball team and boys and girls track teams and we need good sayings to put on them.

Does anyone have any ideas?|||tample the weak, hurdle the dead is a cross country phrase that would work for track too.

My sport is your sports punishment

If you can read this, you're losing

Running is a mental sport. We're all insane

If this were any easier, it'd be called football(my schools football team really sucked)

you could probably google this and find a lot more too

How long is a high school softball game?

I wanna go but I don't know if I'll be able to stay the whole game. How long is a usual softball game?|||7 innings. Roughly maybe 2 hours. It depends on the teams playing. One team could have the run rule called against them in the 2nd. Who knows|||7 innings and about 2 hours like the others said. The slaughter rule is up by 10 runs in the 5th inning.|||7 innings. About 2 hours.|||7 innings|||its seven innings long

which is about 50 minutes or so

How do I organize a charity softball tournament?

I am trying to organize a charity softball tourney and would like some hints ideas.|||Contact your local USSSA or ASA softball organizations. Teams in those league are always looking for tournaments to play in. They pay a nice entry fee, you give a nice trophy and everyone is happy. If you do a weekend tournament think about having a 24 hr tournament and running a nice BBQ/Snack bar as well. Things that will always sell well at a tournament:

Water, Beer, and BBQ!

Good Luck!|||Normally the city has a league that plays during the week at the local diamonds. Church leagues are always popular for fellowship, and they all pay some fee for playing. Put out a flyer to local businesses to sponsor teams.|||Contact your local mafia. They will help you.

How do I find an open softball league?

I live in Columbus, OH and just moved and would love to join a softball team around here. What is something that gets a softball team pumped up before a game?

I have an amazing softball team but we don't always play our hardest. What are some things that could help us get pumped up before a game?|||Make a speech. "Girls, I just heard from the manager of the other team that we're too pretty to play AND win. I just want you to know that I think we can beat their ugly asses if you want to."

It's a lie, but it's been done before and it might work.|||I believe motivation starts in practice. Talk to your players and see what pumps them up. Give them challenging drills so they give value to what they're training for.|||What we do is listen to our ipods before games to any song that we like. and the coach talks tp us before games in a little huddle.|||Detroit's Olde Englyshe capital "D".|||speeches and music. that will get 'em pumped up!

Okay Im going to start playing softball and what are some tips or things i should know?

Okay so I might get into girl softball and I want to know how to improve my hitting skills.|||So if your playing travel softball it's pretty intense you are giving up almost every weekend, but it's well worth it if you love it that much. But softball in general is really a great team sport.

TIPS-

hitting: when hitting keep your eyes on the ball the whole time and watch it all the way in, try to hit it out front, try to make contact in the middle of the ball, turn your back foot all the way, and don't drop your hands down.

base running: you can steal and lead off when the pitcher releases the ball, and if you have to slide it probably should be feet first not head first, and just remember to be aggressive and get to the base as fast as possible.

fielding: charge the grounders so you can get to the ball quicker and throw them out sooner, on bunts as soon as you see their hands square charge in, and most likely on bunts you will throw to first.

good luck Softballs a great sport but it requires alot of practice, but just remember to have fun!|||Squish the bug (turn your foot)

Watch the ball hit the bat

Line up your knuckles on the bat (The second joint from the top. Not the flat part, the bendy part *wishing i had a picture*)

And it might help to experiment with some of your teammates' bats if you can borrow them.

Oh and if you want a really cool drill get like a bunch of like wiffle balls or something and put a number on each one. Get somebody to toss them to you. In addition to having to hit the ball, you have to say what number was on each ball.

Another drill is to have someone toss basketballs at you. You have to try not to let the bat come back at you when you swing. This will teach you to swing through.

And that's all I can think of right now.|||try watching the ball all the way in and remember if it doesn't go over the plate DON'T HIT because if you do swing and miss it, it's a strike. remember to turn your back foot ( squish the bug) and try to bend you knees a little!it always helps to have extra practice so try to find a local batting cage and ask one of your parents to take you !

good luck!|||Study proper stance, rotation, contact and follow through. Make sure you have your head steady when you're hitting

It is important as well to keep focus on what you do and practice often

What are good things to put in a goodie bag for a softball team going to nationals?

Okay so my softball team is going to nationals and were suppose to think of good things to put in the bags (cheap, nothing to expensive) what are some good things to put in them!? please helpp! :)|||Apples of course are always great, gummy treats, granola bars, juice or water, bubble gum, perhaps even trail mix.

How do I clean my aluminum softball bat?

How do I clean the dirt off of my softball bat without rusting it, or messing it up? What kind of liquid cleaner or scrub can I use on it safetly?|||Soap and water.

Aluminum doesn't rust. Be careful of scrubbing, there are certification labels on the bat that can be scrubbed off making the bat illegal for use.|||Use some Aluminum car rim cleaner.

How do I break in a softball glove fast?

I lost my softball glove so, I had to buy a new one. Unfortunately my first game is coming up this week, and my glove is too tight. It is hard for me to keep the ball in place in my glove, especially when they are pop up balls. I can catch good, but this darn glove is too new!|||You are doing the best thing already to break in your new glove. Play catch with it. Catch as many balls as you can to form it to your hand. Catch them in the pocket as much as possible too.

Another thing is to use some glove conditioner in the palm area and in the web. Rub it in good and work the glove by opening and closing it several times.

You can also use shave cream - the foam type - with lanolin in it.

Then put a softball in the pocket and tie it closed with a rubber band or shoe lace or something like that.

Leave it overnight. Then wipe any excess conditioner off and play more catch.

There are lots of bad suggestions out there. Don't put it in water, and Don't put it in the microwave.

Don't drive over it with the car. These will all damage your glove.

It takes some time for a good leather glove to break in, but it will be worth it if you do it right.

Oils are generally not a good thing to use as they will clog the pores of the leather and just make the glove heavier. Vaseline is not good either - it does the same.|||Rub down the glove with neats foot oil, place a ball in the pocket, and wrap the glove tightly with cord.

Let it sit for a couple of days to form a pocket.

What to eat during a softball tournament?

I need to take snacks to a softball tournament for my hubby's team. What kinds of food/snacks should I be taking?|||As far as drinks go, I prefer ice water. Other drinks may be Gatorade, Powerade, or G2.

For snacks, sunflower seeds are classic, pretzels, popcorn, and chips are all easy, good snacks to bring.

Enjoy!|||to drink i would say gatorade or powerade. to eat i would bring something like chips or crackers. u can also bring other things like hohos, twinkies, or brownies because after you eat on or two, you wont become hungry for about another hour or hour and a half. i always bring those kind of snacks to any kind of tournament|||It's always important to have recover meals after a game. Bread and jam is ok. Or any food rich in carbohydrates to replenish depleted energy

What are the dimensions of the carpet used for slow pitch softball?

I'm hosting a coed softball tournament this weekend and would like to use the green carpet for the strike zone. I have to purchase the carpet and cut it to the proper dimensions.|||in our league it is the width of the plate and the total length is 3ft

What is the different between Softball and Baseball?

I want to try a new sport, Baseball is the one I want to try most, but my friends often say softball instead, not baseball, So, Is there any difference? the rule, or maybe the equipment, maybe?|||Well Baseball and Softball are two different sports. Baseball is a more relaxed game with a slower tempo, while Softball is at a really fast tempo.

Baseball has longer fences, longer base paths, smaller ball, pitched overhand, has 9 innings(Depending on what kind of league you're in), and is, in my mind, a whole lot harder than softball.|||BASEBALL:

the bases are 90 ft. apart

the ball is smaller %26amp; harder.

the basll is also 9 inches (229 mm) in circumference.

the bat is No longer than 42 inches.

allowed to steal base any time the ball is "live"

ball is pitched overhand

SOFTBALL:

the bases are 60 ft apart.

the ball is bigger but hard as well

12 or 11 inches (305 or 279 mm) in circumference, less dense than a baseball.

the bat is No longer than 34 inches

only allowed to steal once ball is out of pitchers hand

pitching is underhand.|||softball = under hand pitching

baseball =overhand (or sidearm) pitching

The fields are different sizes, the balls are different sizes.... softball is primarily a metal bat sport where as baseball has many wood bat leagues,,,, baseball has many more collisions and softball not so much.

baseballs travel faster|||If you never played baseball or softball before, start with softball. It's less dangerous.

The ball is larger obviously and thrown underhand, easier to wack at the ball.

The rules are generally the same, for the most part.|||Diamond is smaller. Bases are 60ft apart, not 90.

The ball is larger. Typically pitched underhand, not always.

That's basically it. Everything else I can think of is the same.|||chicks call it softball when they play it because they just do. Don't know why but they do

Fellas call it baseball because thats the proper term %26amp; there's more of sliding into bases in that game|||the difference is that softball sucks

What do I need to do to get my daughter a softball scholarship for college?

My daughter is a junior in high school and has always been very talented in softball. She has always played for the school teams, being picked up at an early age for varsity, on rec leagues, on scouted travel leagues and on all star teams. She really wants to play in college. What are the things that I should be doing to help her get to play in college?|||Step 1 - Figure out if she wants to play D1, D2 or D3

Step 2 - Pick a college (or a few) that she would like to attend

Step 3 - Have her write up a resume of her accomplishments in life (softball, school, ect)

Step 4 - Go outside with your video camera and have her show off her skills, make sure shes wearing her uniform and doing the fundamentals properly (Hit balls, bunt, pitch/catch, plays, pop flies, grounders, running the bases). If you have in game footage of her, that works just as well or better.

Step 5 - Figure out what showcase tournaments she's going to this year and invite the college coaches to those

Step 6 - Send off the emails with the resume/video/invite to all of the colleges she wants to go to

The coaches will tell you if they re coming, then you just send them a tournament draw, after the tournament, they will call your house if they're interested in her

Is there a difference between soccer cleats and softball cleats?

I have three pairs of soccer cleats. I no longer play soccer but use the cleats for playing field hockey because they are both the same. I now play softball but don't have cleats for it. Does soccer %26amp; softball use the same type of cleats?|||They are very similar, but not quite the same. I have used soccer cleats to play softball with, so they will work, but I prefer the softball cleats. They have the toe spike and give you more support around the ankle.|||they are similar but no, they are not the same. do you ever remeber lining up before a game and the referee asked everyone to put up a foot to "check cleats" he was checking to see if they were softball cleats, the only difference is that the softball cleats have a cleat in front dead center. soccer ones dont. they have two space apart by your outside toes. you can usually use soccer cleats for softball but dont have as good a grip, also most softball cleats are squared as opposed to the more round soccer ones, hope that helps

What is the best slowpitch softball bat?

I am an avid softball player and I want the opinion of other people. I want to know weight and bat model and maker.|||if its slow pitch right now would have to be the combat plague , if your a power hitter you want more of a endloaded bat. If you are someone with not as much power a balanced bat is better, worths are pretty good stay away from anything ASA unless you have to they are changing there testing so they are not as good as the usssa or nsa models|||It all depends on if you have fast hands or not.

If you dont have fast hand and can swing fast around a ball thats going 60mph then you need a light bad as around a 20-25 oz

if you have fast hats and can swing fast then you will need about a 25-30 oz

there really isnt a good model you just have to get the right size|||miken freak

How are some ways to earn money for a softball trip?

I have been invited to play for an elite softball tournament this summer in Utah but the expenses are a little steep so I am trying to find some good ways to raise money. Should I buy a fastpitch softball bat with or without warranty?

I want to buy a new softball bat and I play fastpitch softball- high school level. I'm planning on joining a league as well. Should I buy a bat with warranty or without warranty? If it's WITHOUT warranty, then its $30 cheaper. If I buy it WITH warranty, then it's $30 more expensive. The warranty is 400 days and I want to buy an Easton Fastpitch Bat. It has a light weight aluminum shell with a composite inner tube.|||Go with the warranty because even the best bats can break - My daughter plays HS softball, and I know 2 girls on her teams who were glad they had warranties because they cracked bats that they paid $250-$300.

Here's an idea how you could save money and get the warranty...

I bought my daughter a new bat 3 weeks ago from cheapbats.com and used a discount code from retailmenot.com - I saved $15 on a $299 bat with the warranty. It's the third bat I've bought from them for my two daughters, all were good transactions.

Here's a website that has a discount code for Easton bats

http://www.retailmenot.com/view/cheapbat鈥?/a>

scroll to the bottom for the Easton code. Good Luck this season!!|||If I were yu I would buy it without warranty because I doubt yu will break it or anythng. Jus dnt use it at the batting cages only in games and BP

What should I take for a before softball game meal for teenage girls?

My daughter is on the softball team with about 13 girls and 3 coaches. I signed up to take the meal for Monday's game. I have taken pizza before but that can be expensive. I need some ideas on foods that these girls wil like.|||I say you tell them if they win you take them pizza and if they lose you give them vegetables.|||Somthing not to heavy like salad or fruit or fruity snacks.

|||Take a snack like a lil debbie, fruit snacks, and a juice like capri sun or something like that. You shouldn't eat something like pizza or anything like that before a game it's just to heavy and slows the players down.I've learned from playing softball since I was little.

What to do to be ready for softball next spring?

I played softball a few years ago but i quit league ball and i want to try out this spring. What can i do to practice?|||Work on your throwing and catching, and go to the batting cages to improve your hitting. If you have any empty fields there, go there with some of your friends who play softball, or a parent to practice. Eat healthy, and run a few times a week to get in shape.|||Find someone to play catch with. Go to the batting cage and hit. Most have softball cages as well as baseball ones.

What's the difference between softball and baseball?

I always play baseball with my brothers, and I don't play any sports in school, so I signed up for softball, but how is it different from baseball?|||Bigger ball, longer bat barrel, bigger glove, smaller field, smaller base length.

Softball!!?

I am emily johantges and is anyone here going to nationals in alabama??

Emily, Ohio|||Dear Johantges, good luck for you.

Softball??

if they bring softball back in2 the olympics

how do u make the team?

and what is the age group?

i m 15 now and wanting them 2 bring back softball b4 it is 2 late|||My wife played softball at division 1 college, it is nearly impossible to make the team. Imagine that all the best players in the whole country are trying to make one team... that's tough. If your 15 and want to make the Olympics you should already have played on a national level travel team. There is no age limit on the team. One of the players last Olympics was 37 years old. How young? I've never seen anyone go on the team before college. Get on the best travel team you can find. Make it to college, and be the best player there. That's how you do it.|||for one, you have to refine your softball skills like throwing, catching, hitting and running. then try joining the tryouts for the national team and make a good impression to the coaching staff. and who knows, you will make the team in time for 2016 Olympics.

SOFTBALL!!!???!!!???!?!?!?!?

I'm a fourteen year old chic and i LOVE LOVE LOVE softball but i need some advice...

* I played a lot later then EVERYONE else so i did felt left behind considering everyone started playing since they were three and i played for three years and started in like sixth grade. but i caught up and i made it to the all star team, won the game ball a few times, won the game for my team, and i just have so much passion for softball... so here are my questions

1. Softball starts again in like one or two months so how do i try out for the tournament team ( i already signed up for the regular team)?

2. I feel left out because all the other players has really nice equipment!

3. My mom never came to any of my games before so she never even seen me hit a homerun ( especially my first one) but she started coming last season but i hated it and i started playing bad cause i felt pressured. I wanna show my mom how good i can play!!

4. I wanna practice any minute i can but i dont know how i can besides playing catch with myself. My friends dont play, my brothers are busy, my sister hates it, and my mom thinks alcohol is more important then me. I know the coach can help me but like i said i have a passion for it and i want to be pushed and trained hard sooooo bad!!!!!!!!

5. I am extremely talented at sports and i was the most athletic person in school but now i lack that i want to be the best!

6. Where can i get those sandals that strap across. People where them to softball and then put on their kleets.

7. Ok well the first coach ive ever had was a girl and no matter how bad the people were she would play them and we went to the playoffs but then i played on the team with the "best coach and the best team" but he NEVER played me not once besides catcher and we NEVER WON NOT ONE GAME! I cried cause i love the sport and i know im good and i begged him to play me but he didnt. So my coach last season was like who are our pitchers i said i would try it so i tried and i was good. So we were playing a real good team and it was a night game so i remember all the lights were shining at the pitchers mound. So it was like the fifth or sixth inning and we were running in the dug out cause the inning was over so the coach was like ----- get over here and practice your pitching!! i was like HOLY CRAP WHY!!! he had faith in me and gave me a chance so i walked on the pitchers mound my team mates are cheering me on and the other team is like omg she never pitched before. So i pitched and it was strike and i just started striking people out. I FELT AMAZING !!!! So i made it to the all star team that season ( thats when two people from each team are put on a big team to play people) and of course the coach was the one who NEVER PLAYS ME!! So the whole entire time he put me in right feild!!! So the pojnt is he'll be the all star coach this year. PLEASE HELP!! Oh yea when i played his team last year he was like everyone move in there is no way she can hit it that far and i got nervous and struck out! i never strike out!!!

8. Im nervous ill have a bunch of bad people on my team

9. Im nervous a buch of snobs will be on my team that only worry about their hair and i play softball to be with people

10. ANY ADVICE FOR PITCHING OR SOFTBALL IN GENERAL THANKS GREATLY APPRECIATE IT : )!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!|||1. Look around your are for traveling teams you could join. Ask friends and look in the local paper.

2. It doesn't matter, play with what you have. You can show that equipment doesn't make the player good, skill does.

3. Stop thinking about your Mom being there. Play to have fun, and you won't feel as pressured as you do.

4. You can play alone. Throw a ball against a wall and practice grounders, throw the ball over your shoulder and try pop-ups, watch the pros and then mimic them, watch yourself in the mirror to get the basics down.

5. Don't focus on being the best, just practice hard and have fun.

6. Any sporting good store, or shoe store in your area.

7. Some coaches are just stupid, try to ignore him and play for fun. If you can ignore him, you can get back to playing well, and he will see that you always were good.

8. Nothing you can do about that. If they are bad, try to help them, but not so much that you look like a know it all.

9. If you play softball to be with people you are playing for the wrong reason, try to relax and have fun. If they are snobs, laugh at and with them about it.

10. Try to have fun, and practice a lot. Get your form down, and then you can go far. It all goes back to basics.

That was a really long question, next time try to shorten it a bit.|||1. Check ASA.com for a local team for your age, you would probably be playing on a 14U team or 16U team.

2. Equipment is expensive, however expensive equipment doesn't beat out talent! If you are trying to save up for a bat, you might be able to purchase a bat from one of your teammates. Girls on my varsity high school team do that all the time and it can save you a ton of money. Most of the time it is worth it and in the end you can save a ton.

3. Just relax when you play. Don't look at the stands, just focus on your teammates and your coach and you will be ok.

4. I do this all the time on my own too. Start by running, try to run 2-4 miles a day roughly 4 times a week. That should build up your stamina and overall endurance. Run some sprints, try suicides, and agility drills (high knees, grapevine, pylometrics). Find an old batting tee or parking cone and work on hitting (You can look for drills on line). Pushups and pullups are also good. Try to get a couple of teammates to practice with because it will make it more fun and keep you motivated. I train with a couple of girls on my team all year round and it's good because you can tell each other how to improve. Mental conditioning is important too. It may sound funny but before every play I think of all the possible situations that may occur. For example, I think if the ball is hit here I will do this or go there. Believe it or not it will actually help you a great deal. Following this will eliminate any mental errors that may happen.

5. Keep practicing and you will get better. Focus on helping your team not trying to be the team superstar. There are 9 other people out there and try to learn their weaknesses and strengths. For example, I know that my friend who plays center field always throws a little bit high to me when I play second base. So I always take a step back when receiving a relay throw. Learning to accommodate to your teammates is a valuable skill!

6.You can get those sandals at dick's or sports authority: http://www.sportsauthority.com/product/i鈥?/a>

7. The more you play the less nervous you will get trust me! You can't control your coach you can only control yourself. If the coach makes poor decisions work a little harder to show him how much you want the spot. Be warned this doesn't always work. There have been times when I have worked my butt off for a spot I deserved and still been benched. It sucks but it makes you tougher :).

8. Don't worry about who is on your team it is out of your control and you can only work to improve YOUR skills. I

9. I know how you feel but the more fun you have the better chance that other people will come and join in on the fun.

10. As for pitching, practice every day. Make sure you work on accuracy before speed. If you have a pitchback or a fence that you can pitch into that would also help. A net also works!

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SEASON!|||WOW !!! that was a lot to digest....let's start real small ok?

First, I would very much recommend that you go to http://www.sportskool.com/sports/softbal鈥?/a> Mike Candrea, Coach of the USA Olympic team as well as the University of Arizona has compiled alot of FREE videos on fastpitch softball. I suggest that you view these, study them, and perform every function EXACTLY as shown in the videos.

Next, http://www.eteamz.com/fastpitch/announce鈥?/a> is a start on finding a team. Just click on the state you live in and it should point you in the right direction. You can also find teams in your area and call them to see if they need players. By all means this should be done with your parents approval.

In regard to finding someone to practice with...I would suggest that you look outside your current group of friends. At school, take a look around and see who plays %26amp; who doesn't. Ask them for advice on what you should do %26amp; LISTEN....and suggest maybe we can workout together. Next you should approach the school coach, ask his/her advice...SIT BACK AND LISTEN!!! If you do not have the ability to listen to their advice then how will you get better?

From reading your post, I have a feeling this is something that you need to do. I have seen a lot of players and even the "best" ones NEVER told anyone that they were the best. In fact those players most often doubted their abilities and worked harder to achieve their goals.

Finally, the best player, any coach could want is someone who works very hard, gives it all they have, supports their team (no matter what), does not trash talk any team member on/off the field, to their face OR behind their back. IF you are as good as you think you are you will have very little problem finding a team. IF not, you may have to take a look at yourself %26amp; your skills and ask "why"?

Good luck !

Softball?????

Have you ever took a big'ol chunk out of a softball.(yes with your mouth)............does it hurt?Just wondering???It keeps going through my mind!|||Yes i have and it broke my brace.
