What is the difference between slowpitch and fastpitch softball?

I'm going to be trying out for my high school softball team this year. I used to play softball when I was younger, but I'm not sure which version I played. I don't want to look like I don't know what I'm doing (even if I really don't).

THANKS!|||IN slow pitch the pitch has to be made in an arc where the pitch goes high and then come down across the plate. Fast pitch it comes in straight across the plate. I played fast pitch. I found it much easier to hit than slow pitch.|||The main difference is in the name:

Slowpitch requires the pitcher to throw the ball with an arc, thus forcing the pitches to come in slow and making it easier to hit.

Fastpitch, pitchers can throw as hard as they can (underhand). This makes it harder to hit because you have much less time to react. You need to learn to slap at the ball with a short quick swing if you're playing fastpitch.

The other main difference is that in fastpitch, base-runners can steal. They can leave the base as soon as the pitcher releases the ball. In slowpitch, there's no stealing (there are a few very competitive slowpitch leagues that allow it, but they are very rare).

The basics of the game are similar though in the sense that you hit the ball, run around the bases, score by crossing the plate, your out if you get tagged or don't make it to a base you're forced to or hit a pop up that's caught, etc.

Chances are that you played slowpitch as a kid and your high school team is fastpitch. |||The two forms are exactly the same, but with slowpitch softball, when the pitcher winds up, her arm only goes back halfway, and the ball is released very slowly. In fastpitch, the arm rotates in a full windmill, and the ball goes much faster. Normally, fastpitch is played in high school ball. If all else fails, ask the coach. Hope this helps!!! |||REally, you don't know?

Slowpitch is.....slowpitch.

Fastpitch is.....fastpitch.

Hellooooooo........|||slow pitch- the pitcher has to lob the ball.. the rule is usually that the ball at some point must be higher than the batters head..

fast pitch- just throw the ball over the plate|||the pitch is faster

the pitching mound is farther

and most girls hit it out in the outfield|||The speed of the pitch. So you probably played slow.|||OMG, you have got to be kidding!!!!!
