Does anyone know what you need to do to start a youth fast-pitch softball traveling team?

I live in NC and there isn't much for the good softball players to do except rec and school ball. My 12yo daughter wants to play year round and the only other team in the area is all about who you know. We are new in town and aren't in tight with these people. I want to form a team, have try-outs for anyone interested and go from there. I just don't know what I need to do to get started.|||Look into the local distrcit ASA, (AmateurSoftball Association).

|||Tennessee has a great softball program. UNC also has a great softball program. I have a daughter that is 13 and will be looking for the same thing in a few years. Good Luck ! I'm sure there are other schools but I can't say which ones for sure.

How would I go about finding a sponsor for a men's softball team?

My husband's modified softball team (not slow pitch) has been together for over 10 years with the same sponsor the whole time. Now that money is tight the sponsor has backed out. (at the last minute) Now not sure were to look for a new one. Please help.|||Call local bars, restaraunts, real estate agencies, banks, etc. Tell them the price to sponsor the team and let them know THEIR name will be advertised across the jerseys, etc and they will be well represented. They probably will want to know "whats in it for them"....tell them publicity.|||GO TO YOUR FAVORITE TAVERN OR FIND A NEW ONE|||It will be difficult. Men's softball is not something that most businesses would want to be associated with. Ohhhhhhhhhh...BURN!!!|||Hit local restaraunts, bars, and other business with strong ties to the local community. Look at who sponsors teams in the Little League, Babe Ruth, and other youth leagues. If they sponsor teams there, they would probably sponsor adult teams. If there are guys on the team that own businesses or work for companies, they can ask them.

Not really hard if you ask.|||Print up flyers, and put them on local street corners.

Is it possible to recieve a college softball scholarship through travel ball, instead of school ball?

I love softball, it's practically my life. I was just wondering about this. Seeing if it is possible. Thanks.|||Yes. It is not only "possible" - but it is actually much more likely that college scouts will see you at travel ball tournaments.

The two most likely ways to get recruited by a college are:

1. Travel "club" ball

2. Attending college softball camps

Here's why I say this...

My daughters went to the Arizona State University softball camp after they won the national championship in 2008. I spent time talking with head coach Clint Myers, and I asked him about where he recruits from and why. He said that he and most college coaches do not go to high school games because the NCAA limits the number of recruiting "visits" each school can make per year. He said that he could use one visit to go to a high school game or tournament with 2 to 10 teams and see a very small number of potential recruits. Or, he can use one visit to go to a regional or national travel "club" tournament and see 20-40 teams. He said that this is why most colleges recruit through travel ball.

Do you want to know what ASU Coach Myers said is the BEST way to get a scholarship?

He said go to the college softball camps. He recruits from his camps because he not only sees the players for longer periods of time, often over a few years in a row, but he also gets to really talk to the players and get to know their personality %26amp; attitude during camp.

Good luck to you!!|||very possible. all you have to do is compete in Exposure tournaments or showcases. Make sure you also attend camps and other events that have college coaches attending and watching. While doing all of this, you MUST write/call/visit any colleges your interested in. I just went to a camp last week and was told that if you plan to go to a certain college, you name must come across their desk every single week, their email better be blown up with your name and requests to come watch you play. Also remember, every second your on the field, play 100%, you never know when the right person is watching. word travels quickly in the softball world.|||Yes it is if you play well enough.

What is a good softball fielder's glove that is under fifty dollars?

Softball starts in less than a month, and I just found out that my old softball glove was eaten by little critters in my garage. I need an affective glove because I'm going to be pitching and out-fielding.|||wilson's my favorite glove. i have one now and i probably need a new one, but they dont make mine anymore, so ive stuck with it. usually wilson's are already broken in pretty well, so it should be good to go within a month. oil it (u can even use shaving cream), and keep it in good shape|||wilson makes a decent glove or easton..just go to sporting goods store and find one that is comfortable for you in your price range. the brand dont catch the ball,,,, you do.|||i got a wilson monster web and it is fantastic!!! Good luck!!!

What are some great tips on playin softball?

I play softball with my church %26amp; i have problems with catching the ball %26amp; hitting it.

Any tips that would be useful?|||Make sure to check your form. Having the correct fielding and hitting form will go a long long way. dont change proper form because you think you can't hit or catch.

Catching:

- catch ball at center of body

- Cover with free hand

- dont grab ball with glove just make sure it enters then cover with free hand

- for groundballs stay low, butt down and keep glove infront of you

Hitting:

-dont forget to use your hips for rotation

- Dont move head when hitting, keep eyes glued to where you're suppose to hit

- Hit ball in front of you|||start everyday throwing with someone and continuously move back until you're at a good distance, that should help you catching, a long with having someone throw a ball in different ways and you going to get it, with hitting, square your body to the plate, tuck your shoulder, build momentum from our hips, watch the ball the whole way, and follow through|||Watch the ball all the way into the mitt and until it touches the bat. The most common mistake hitters make is not seeing it all the way through.
